Materials to be used: Oil Pastels / Water Colour / Colour Pencils / Poster Colours / Wax Crayons
Students can choose any One Theme from options below to create their masterpiece.
Regardless of grade, anyone can choose any theme.
Here are some age-appropriate ideas for the international winter painting competition based on the theme
“Festivals of Winter.”
These are suggestions — participants are free to create their own interpretations to express creativity.
🎨 Group A (Kindergarten – Below 1st Grade)
Focus: Simple Shapes, Bright Colors, and Personal Joy.
- My Shiny Festival Star: Decorate a bright star with dots or glitter.
- Handprint Menorah: Use handprints to form the base and add fiery flames.
- A Pile of Presents: Colorful gift boxes with scribbled bows.
- Festival Lantern: Big yellow lantern with a smiley face on dark blue.
🌟 Group B (Grade/Class 1st & 2nd)
Focus: Basic Storytelling and Simple Symbols.
- The Happy Diya: Diyas glowing against the night sky.
- Dreidel Dance: Colorful dreidel spinning joyfully.
- Decorating the Tree: Christmas tree with ornaments and a star.
- Winter Feast: Family table scene with festive foods.
🎆 Group C (Grade/Class 3rd, 4th & 5th)
Focus: Cultural Details, Scenes, and Beginning Composition.
- Dragon's Head: Vibrant Chinese New Year dragon close-up.
- Lighting the Candles: Hands lighting a Menorah or Kinara.
- My Favorite Festival Food: Still life of traditional food.
- Festival in the Snow: Snowy scene with cultural symbols.
🔥 Group D (Grade/Class 6th to 8th)
Focus: Atmosphere, Emotion, and More Complex Scenes.
- The Night Market: Lunar New Year market under twilight.
- The Reflection of Light: Festive reflections in windows.
- The Community Bonfire: Lohri or Solstice night bonfire.
- A Symbol of Peace: Meaningful object from any festival.
🌌 Group E (Grade/Class 9th to 12th)
Focus: Conceptual Ideas, Technical Skill, and Personal Interpretation.
- Hands of Tradition: Realistic ritual scenes.
- The Fusion of Cultures: Combine winter festivals artistically.
- Metamorphosis of Light: Abstract art of light overcoming darkness.
- The Quiet Moment Amidst the Noise: Contrast celebration vs reflection.
- Windows of the World: Panels showing diverse global celebrations.
